“Whole House Approach”

A budding building philosophy, the “whole house approach” in which Humphrey’s operates, is meant to look at all facets of home building, whether new design or remodel, through a consistent lens. Based on the idea that a house functions as one large unit, this approach focuses on how to bring together interior and exterior home elements in a meticulous way and with the finest features, details and customer service. Humphrey’s Building Supply Center in Tiverton encompasses a first-rate selection of design, build and finish materials, products and tools, as well as a 10-acre lumberyard and specialty galleries and design divisions. It’s the ideal first stop when prepping for any project and offers the essentials – for consumers, architects, builders, carpenters, painters and other trade professionals – for work at any phase. More than just a supply center, Humphrey’s is a business that is built on the idea of offering all things for a house, and has expanded to include a variety of home services that span the project board from concept to installation and final design; a single step for creating a brand new look for any facet of the home. “Coordinating the entire envelope of all building materials for their [client] projects allows us to ensure their needs and expectations are met for each segment of construction,” says Humphrey’sCEO, Scott Humphrey.

Bath Design Center

A part of the Tiverton showroom, the Kitchen & Bath Design Center at Humphrey’s provides the access and amenities needed to construct a flawless room. Seen by many as the primary room in a household, the kitchen adds the most value to an interior space and gets frequent use for both preparation and entertaining purposes. The bath, too, is a refuge for another purpose – relaxation, unwinding and privacy.

“Smart style for functional spaces,” as Humphrey’s refers to the gallery, the Kitchen & Bath Design Center and its team of talented designers aide in piecing together interiors based on at-home living; that is, creating a space designed to an individual’s needs and day-to-day wants. Providing clients with “innovative spatial planning infused with gorgeous design,” the team at the Design Center keeps an eye on ways to maximize efficiency, reflect personal style and stay true to a homeowner’s vision. Interior designs include: the kitchen, bath, home office, master bedroom suite, home theater and entertainment room, pantry and library…to name a few!

Window & Door Design Gallery

Other home must-haves that shouldn’t be overlooked include the selection of windows and doors. The Window & Door Design Gallery in Middletown is one of two showrooms (the other is in Warwick) with full-scale product displays for clients to browse, handle and test prior to purchase. The approach contributes to the whole house design in that it offers both homeowners and trade professionals the opportunity to sample products on the floor, and see the full potential and value of the product in the home.

A Marvin retailer, the Window & Door Design Gallery provides a suite of Marvin millwork, including Marvin Made-to-Order and Integrity by Marvin products, exclusively. Ranging from simple to complex projects, and residential or commercial property, Humphrey’s follows Marvin’s Built-around-You™ design philosophy: “to create millwork with master craftsmanship from the very best materials and to give customers exactly what they want for their homes.

Style in the Details

After the selection of the larger products for home building and design, the choice of decorative hardware comes next, and with Humphrey’s, those selections can be as simple or as ornate as you’d like them to be. Offered in a gallery within the main Building Supply Center, is the specialty hardware department. The wide-ranging selection includes: cabinet knobs, drawer pulls, door hinges, levers, bath fixtures and entry door locksets. An in-house specialist can guide you throughout the 400-square-foot gallery and assist in selecting the best brand, style and finish for your space.

Another detail that brings personality, vibrancy and life to a space is the use of great paint. At both the Building Supply Center and Humphrey’s standalone retail space, Beach Paint in Middletown, you’ll find a wide spectrum of tools and accessories for interior and exterior use with the most effective primers, stains, paints, finishes and cleaners. With an in-house mixing station and computer technology, any color imaginable can be developed.

From animated to classic, Humphrey’s color palette, including their own line of “A Collection of Paints by Humphrey’s,” is a tribute to their Ocean State heritage, and comes in names like robust Rhode Island Red, Newport Navy Blue and Westerly Linen White – the choices are limitless.

Installation Services

When the products and colors are defined, you simply can’t skimp on the service. Humphrey’s offers installation services and full-service drywall delivery by registered and fully-insured carpenters (for Rhode Island and Massachusetts). Humphrey’s Installation Services help streamline the process of having to choose an installer, and offers assurance for the product and its delivery, along with a reputable finish and installment procedure you need not think twice about. The personal attention and management of one of your most precious possessions, your home, is unmatched at Humphrey’s. A designer for projects of any size and scope, for an existing space or one that’s brand new, the “Whole House Approach” at Humphrey’s is a homeowner’s – and building professional’s – saving grace.

“We are a family owned business…in our 126th year of consecutive operation,” says Humphrey.“We treat our customers as family.” As Humphrey’s motto says, “Build with the ‘H.’
