You’ll find lots of flooring in Factory Carpet Outlet of Pawtucket’s 10,000-square-foot showroom. “We are the largest in New England,” says Guy Williams, president of the locally owned and operated business. “We can fit anyone’s budget. We have carpet from 80 cents a foot to $12 a foot and everything in between. And we carry everything.” Whether it is ceramic or natural stone tile, wood flooring, pre-finished engineered wood, antique wood, bamboo, cork or even leather tile—they have it.

The store is so large it would be difficult for a customer not to find what they are looking for. Nonetheless, Williams encourages customers to shop around because “We feel confident that our products, pricing and services are the best.” In fact, he has made a career out of it for more than 30 years. “Honesty and good pricing have gotten me where I am today,” he says.
There is no doubt that staying ahead of trends and offering new products has also helped. “We are always changing,” Williams says. “It is not uncommon to have new arrivals every week or month.”
He’s seen the rise of eco-friendly, non-petroleum-based carpeting options made from corn, castor beans and soybeans. SmartStrand® by Mohawk uses corn sugar to replace petroleum-derived materials such as nylon and offers “superior stain resistance and durability,” according to Williams. And now, durable carpeting fibers are even being made from recycled plastic bottles or PET (polyethylene terephthlate). “It is a better value for the same money and we are also keeping stuff out of landfills,” Williams says. “We all want to do our part.”
